So how long will it take to run my stuff? Well, that depends on a lot of things. But we really tried to get the programming efficient as possible to prevent long wait times. We programmed much of the cWGAP algorithm with bacterial genomes in mind (~5MB) - anything more than this may take some serious time, thus we put a limit on input Genbank genome (file) size. Email us about running these jobs separately.
Here is a table of times we have run:
Genome | # of Genomes | Avg Genome size | File processing size | Processing time | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Clostridium plasmids | 5 genomes | 149 kilobases | 15 Megabytes | < 1 minute | ||||
Pathogenic E. coli genomes | 5 genomes | 5 megabases | 725 Megabytes | 7 minutes | ||||
Arabidopsis genomes* | 2 genomes | 138 megabases | > 1.3 Terabytes | 4 hours |
* Plant genomes are currently not feasable to run on our little server... (If we get funding for more, this is possible for the future)
